New Delhi Railway Station has two faces, and which one you walk out of decides how the next twenty minutes of your trip go.
Take the Paharganj exit
Platform 1 opens onto Paharganj — the side you want if you are staying with us. The Ajmeri Gate exit on the far side of the footbridge leads to a different neighbourhood entirely, and the walk back around the station is long enough to regret. If your train sets you down on a high-numbered platform, follow the signs for Platform 1 rather than the first staircase you see.
The walk
From the Paharganj gate, Arakashan Road is about 700 metres — roughly seven minutes on foot with a bag. Cross the forecourt, keep the station wall on your right, and turn into the road that runs past the row of small hotels. It is well lit at every hour, and the last stretch is quiet.
If you would rather not walk
An autorickshaw from the station to Arakashan Road is a very short ride. Agree the fare before you sit down or use a metered app; a driver who quotes a number several times higher is counting on you not knowing the distance. Prepaid taxi counters inside the station are the safest option after midnight.
Arriving before check-in
Our front desk never closes. Trains do not care about a 2:00 PM check-in, so if you land at dawn, come in, leave your bags with us, and have breakfast upstairs while your room is made ready.
The first hour in a new city sets the tone for the rest. Ours is designed to be uneventful.
If you know your train number in advance, tell us when you book. It costs nothing and it means someone is expecting you.
